Default Car theft due to RD

Has your car ever been broken into because of the RD? I would like to know if this happens often. I'd like to leave my RD in the car permanently but just afraid of it being stolen. I can't even leave the mount on the windshield bec. thieves will break in knowing you have a GPS or RD hidden somewhere in the car.

Give a copy of your receipt to your insurance company. You'll be covered then. I pay an extra 2 or 3 dollars a month to have up to $3000 of modifications covered in my policy.

My rule of thumb is don't leave anything in plain site, most thieves will take anything, even a cobra. As for brackets I agree, I don't like to have anything in plain view. I can say I had my car broken into with nothing in plain sight, I am not sure if the were going to nose around looking or try to steal the car itself, my alarm went off and must of scared them away.

Hard wire it and mount it above your rear view mirror... No one will see it from outside.

A good insurance company shouldn't charge you anything for that really, but 2 to 3 dollars isn't bad. It kinda funny though why even bother?

I don't leave even the windshield stubs or cigarette lighter plug in plain sight when I leave my car. I lived in an affluent neighborhood and even then the number of car breakins were astounding. Heck I can see the allure of seeing some $200-500 thing dangling off the windshield.

It's simply not worth the trouble, insurance or not. Insurance isn't gonna cure the hassle of dealing with a smashed car when you need to go to work next week

Because also, if I'm in a car accident and my laser jammer gets involved in the accident... it will count as well.

Some of us have the most expensive detectors and jammers sold.

That's one of the reasons I have a remote unit. It would take someone 20 minutes to steal it in working condition.

I always removed my V1 whenever I parked and at least hid it under the seat if running into the store or something. But I got lazy... I live in a good neighborhood and left my car parked out front over night a couple times...leaving the V1 in it (which was hardwired and mounted to the visor up high). Lo and behold, one night some punk kid(s) broke my front door's window and stole it. :x
