Keep in mind that he could have had his radar on low power. He would not be able to detect you at long distances like he would be able to if he had his radar on high power but low power gives detectors a hard time finding the radar.

Hmm, that probably was it, since it would have been worthless to have any higher power for him. The way the set up was, the furthest away he could have hit a cr was about 50 feet, maybe less (he was past the crest of the hill, so he was on a steepdowngrade, and traffic was coming up an upgrade, so he could only get them once they crested, and I'm thinking he about 50 or 40 feet from the crest.

VR says that the scuff and the light scratches have no affect on radar or laser, so I guess the NC cops are just tricky and turn down their guns.

I've experienced that as one of their normal tactics. Usually running instant-on when they are moving, pulling sneak attacks from the rear. Most times I see a stop being made on the HWY it's usually after a very short alert warning. Next thing you know there are lights flashing ahead of you but the alert has stopped. NCSHP are the sneakiest, especially in unmarked.

The more I think about it, the more I think it was instant on. I mean, I started out with 5 bars, not 3 like high sensitivity is supposed to, once I got two car lengths past him i got no more signal, and the strength jumped from 5 bars to 9 I think, instead of hitting 6-8 then 9, so I'm guessing he hit somebody, then hit me.
