You should be able to get more range than just 0.2 miles specially if it is constant on as you stated hereOriginally Posted by speed-demon
in that particular scenario where you were coming to the front.I dunno if it's me or what, but with 35.5 ghz I barely get .2 miles = 1056 feet max. I tested it using a cop car left his RD on...
Very well possible depending on what there is around for the radar to reflect off of. I have experienced from the same police car a range of 300 feet when off axis and his radar pointing up slightly to a 1/2 mile range when driving behind him and him beaming forward while on the highway.
The antennas on the 35.5 units seem to be very directional and less reflections means your range will be greatly reduced.
This also hopefully will mean that the cops will get a more accurate reading. I hate it when they pull you out of a crowd because of someone was speeding behind you!
This is what made me sell my Whistler XTR 560. When the going gets tough the the economy units are useless. As a matter a fact, you are probably better off without a detector then being pulled over with one on your dash that has failed you.
