    Google Earth :!: :?:

That's what I thought about this freaking program, that it's always live or at least stays updated on a regular basis... what a sucker I was to believe that, they are using old imagery and you will never know how often they update it...

http://www.radardetector.net/viewtop...r=asc&start=15 focus on page 2 where I showed everybody how stupid I was to believe that Google Earth is a source to rely on on regular basis...
well I wasn't really expecting it to be super up to date. but at least from the past year. how often do the police change the white stripes? I would think for the most part that they use the same ones every year and for those if visible can be POIed. it would be a start and have to be verified with ones own eyes but at least it would give you a place to look for them on the road.

I'm sure there are some US ones as well

Personally all I need right now is the location of the brand-new hwy 400 VASCAR painted marks, that website takes me to a freaking large zip file that contains the entire Canada (and no assurance is got the new Ontario new VASCAR marked signs on 400!!!), why would I need speed traps in Vancouver or RLCs in Edmonton loaded on my Garmin when I never go there???!!!

For people in GTA, just get my own file, http://www.radardetector.net/viewtopic.php?t=33027 damn proud of doing it on my own, reflects exactly the facts on ground, very uptodate (68 RLCs right now), anytime I see a new RLC I will post it in that thread right away, you do not need RLCs in Vancouver, Calgary or Winnipeg loaded in your GPS when you never drive down there!!!

Again I can only speak for Florida, they change the location every so often. so its not like set it once and forget about it.

These VASCAR markers (lines) really stand out and are very easy to spot, as soon as you see and cross the first line, even the second line (there are five sets of lines, approx 15 seconds apart at normal speed), so all one has to do is let off the gas and slow down.

And if one really wants (if has) just add a POI in the GPS nav system. As was mentioned earlier, Google pictures are old... for a reason, need clear weather, plus expense to retake sat photos, although this inevitably comes from government source (controlled), note how the zoom and resolution is limited... it can go a hell of alot further and finer detail.

also at those low levels with the aviation lights I think they will be easy to spot in the sky.

I think the whole flying at night statement is just a scare tactic but who knows.

Yeah, its just a scar tatic, as those systems you could not make out a vehicle discription very well, let alone the markers.

No doubt that they could use night systems to help catch extreme exgressive drivers.

    Reliable at night...

OK, can you please make up your mind, reliable or not reliable after sunset (VASCAR plane with painted marks on the road)?

Do you get charged by kilobyte? Your GPS storage is huge.
You can delete the non Ontario records if you want but hey its your time
Personally I'd rather have a communty updated file.

thats great and all but I don't live in Canada.

I'm with RW'07 on the "all combined on one file", that really is annoying. I wish they would break it up by state. if I am going on a trip through a few states no need to load the whole country.

and after reading through the LEO website where they talk about submitting false data to these speedtrap sites who knows if these are accurate or full of BS.

Your "community" is for me, in this case, an entire freaking country, the entire country into my GPS, with all do respect, why the hell would I need something that I never use :!: :!: :!:

For the GTA you need just the FIXED RLCs, 68 in total, the speed traps you guys are talking about are either photo cameras (ILLEGAL in Ontario) or various locations where drivers have seen cops doing laser or radar, they never go back to that particular location to do laser or radar in the following weeks so you want me to keep a location alerting me all the time when there is nothing in that area for weeks or months :?:

I don't need 1,522 locations loaded in my Garmin for just 68 RLCs in my area :!:

Search around I find it hard to believe that GPS users are doing this in the US

Frankly I never understand your tortured logic. So you are now argiung that you dont believe cops go back to the same locations?
