1) Yes, window tints have a metallic composition to help them reflect the sun's rays... which unfortunately, also has the effect of reflecting radar waves. Fortunately, the majority of RDs have only 1 antenna... and it's facing forward out your windshield which is obviously not tinted. So having tints on the side windows will not have any impact, and even the rear window will have minimal impact as radar from behind you is detected by the waves coming up from behind you, bouncing off another object in front of you, and then coming back toward you.Originally Posted by EvilCelica
2) Haha, funny you should mention that. That is the 1 drawback I have to my install... my girlfriend complains about not being able to adjust the sun visor any which way she wants to. It can go to a slightly further than straight up-and-down position, and if you detach the one side from the clip, you can pull it back slightly and then rotate it even further toward the windshield. But you can't push it ALL the way forward because of the RD. Hence, this summer, I'm going to retest the effects of the windshield tint/black dots on detection and consider moving the location slightly... however, she admits it's not the end of the world the way it is right now. Plus, the visor allows me to conceal the detector from being seen from behind for when I'm traveling in Virginia or a cop happens to be tailing me.
I've always kept my detector on suction cups. They work very well and never fail <knocks on wood>.
I'd like to hear more about your opinion of this product.Originally Posted by lacning74

Oh wow, that's pretty cool.Originally Posted by lacning74

i would imagine it would help find speed traps and maybe if you get pulled over by an angry cop one day you can have at least audio. what else?
Here is where my 9500i was mounted before I sent it in for the firmware fix:

voice alert is awesome.
Not according to my woman. She thinks it's stupid. She especially hates "powering down". She says, "what else tells you that it is turning off"?Originally Posted by EvilCelica

i like that the voice alert on your RD is a feminen voice.
But the sign says speed enforced by aircraft......... :P :wink:Originally Posted by Nighthawk243
