    Default Installed RD Pictures

Hey there, Ive been reading on the forums for a couple of days, today I finally joined. Currently im using a whistler XTR and have just ordered myself a spanking new Beltronics RX65 i'm very excited. Found some good info thanks to radar roy! im thinking about in a few weeks ordering a visor clip and a smart cord direct wire.

I just wanted to see where and how you guys are mounting your radar detectors so i can get an idea for mine. at the moment i think i will be mounting the smart cord indicator in my ash tray.

    here is my current setup.

Oh for the love of god this better be a joke.... The AN/APG-68 of the F-16 will not be doing speed enforcement on your car...

You know, the RD is intended to detect police radar ON THE GROUND, yours, as it is right now it's good to see if you can get DirecTV in your car The RD must be parallel to the road in order to get full advantage of its capability... don't worry, you're learning and you're in the right spot, everybody is here to help
    Drive safely

It's an honest mistake. A lot of people place they're RDs in this configuration.

lets try and get back on topic guys. i want to see pics of where your mounting your detectors. any cool custom things done stuff like that. i put mine up for refrence it doesnt have its original mounting bracket so i bough a universal mounting thing from pep boys as a temp solution. its flexible so sometimes it will sag if you dont get it just right.

i really like the picture in your sig. i like the way it looks to have a RD set up high and out of your line of sight. its very stealthy and clean at the same time.

im thinking of cutting a hole in a piece of carbon fiber to mount my Direct wire smart cord into once i get it. anybody do anything like this?

    Default High on the windshield

U r trying to detect K/Ka, and hopefully Lidar when a 'rabbit' gets hit. Ur best chance is if u get a warning before the LEO hits u.
If ur RD is at the bottom of the windshield ur ability to detect 'rabbit' being hit is reduced. And if u get hit with LIDAR, u have already been clocked for speed by the time ur detector goes off.
    Go with the high mount...............

Certainly not with snow covering the entire windshield!

Anyway, I get your point with regards to the mounting location. A few inches above the dash so that the RD is not behind the windshield wipers is good.

You are gonna love your RX-65.
