    Default Beltronics vector 940

I'm seriously considering plunking down 137.99 on a Beltronics v940. I came across someone's post in here asking the differences between the vector series, and since they all are the same internally, I looked at the 940, and yes, cause it's on sale.

I got to thinking, for the small commute I have, majority of it highway and some passing through a busy city type setting with walmart type stores, mabye I should give this a shot, instead of dumping 400.00 down on something I might not use often?

I don't know, it's Friday and I'm bored, most likely lookin for an excuse to buy a shiny new toy.

Curious to see the veterans thoughts

I only drive about 3-4 hours a week but I've found my V1 very useful...it's really up to you though.

Yea the Vectors are all the same inside. You're paying extra for additional features (tec mode, turn off bands) and extras (case, smart cord). They all have very good detection and are nice detectors for the mid-price range. They sound about right for your situation too. I had a V995 for a few months and then found myself wanting the next level up (bad problem I have), which is what caused me to get a V1. Would you like the 9500i or V1 more? Probably, but they are expensive as you know so it's really up to you at that point. But a V940 is a perfectly capable detector.

That's what I was after. More than likely, once I get a feel for a detector again I'll more than likely re-visit a higher end detector. I'm one of those few people who has to test the waters first before jumping in head first. Worst case, the vector goes on my Harley or in the wife's car afterwards.

Here's a list of the differences I made a while ago:

Thanks for that link! Helps alot, spending more for the small features, and that oh so cool soft case... That chart broke everything down, really you don't get all that much else.

The V940 is a fine detector. I have both a V995 and a V955. I recently bought the V955 instead of the V940 so I could turn off X-band. But performance-wise, just like everybody says, they're the same.

Well it's about time I suppose. No it's not a V1 or a 9500i but for me it's a good re-introduction to the world of radar detectors. Picked it up this morning, plugged it in, and off I went.

I hope to gain more insight and get a generalized feel for it over this weekend. Least now I can start with a baseline and go from there as I learn more

Which horn and version do you have? Keep me posted since I'll be looking into a V940 or V955 as my introduction.
