I think spec mode is also very useful in X or K band also. If you go by a store and every day it is right around 24.099 GHz and today it's 24.153 GHz and sounds a little different than usual, there is a good chance there is a LEO around. I had this exact experience.

I don't think you need spec mode for that...I check for the same thing just by watching the number of radar sources/listening for the "bogey lock tone" (do Belscorts have an equivalent audio alert for picking up additional simultaneous sources?) If I drive past a store that always has 2 radar sources, and today it's got three, it's a cop.

Different ways to do the same thing. In expert mode you will get a "multiple signals detected" voice alert. In spec mode, you will not, so you have to listen for a different rampup and glance at the display on my SRX. On my 9500i, it's much more obvious. No alert before, alert today.

...Sure the STi will be stealth that the V1 will not/should not get interference BUT the STi will be getting interferrence from the V1.

.... And if you get a Ka hit, just flip on your other RD already in Tech mode and you will see the specific Ka band. And then you dont need to worry about interference running two at the same time.

And to carry this one-step further....

Would the V1 - in this dual-detector scenario - still powered-on, cause enough interference to throw the STi's TechMode displayed frequency far enough off that it can be a problem?

If so, would the use of some kind of switch to allow one detector to be powered on and the other, simultaneously, turned-off, be of-benefit?

Ancillary question:

In an hypothetical I/O scenario, could this transition - the start-up of the TechMode/SpecMode detector, be done fast enough that the signal would be captured?

I would suggest just scrapping the V1 and using the STI but then you loose the damn arrows.

Sometimes you can't have everything.

Turning the Spec mode detector on just to read the alert is time consuming and kinda defeats the purpose.

The STI-R is a nice option but how much is the spec mode worth to you?

As far as interference goes it is a real problem. The V1 does not like other detectors inside the car. I ran mine with an RX65 and it gave me random KA band alerts and it always went off as the RX65 was being switched on. The actual range was not affected ( I tested on CO KA) but false alerts were annoying/dangerous.
