    Default Cavalier windshield

So, I got my friend into radar detectors to the point that he wants to buy one. We were talking today, and he asked me if the sharp slope of his '99 Cavalier's windshield would effect the performance of the detector at all.

I would not think so, but I don't know. It has no tint or anything, and he will probably be mounting high because he is considering a V1 or a 9500i.

Any Cavalier drivers or people that know about performance of detectors on sloped windshields? I told him I'd ask you guys.

    Thanks

As long as the detector is level. I dont see a problem.

Yeah, it sounds like a really dumb question, but sometimes the internals of windshields (stock or otherwise) can modify performance.

Just seeing if anyone has a Cavalier, or knows someone with one, to get an easy answer.

The only windshields that I know of that effect performance are the athermic type. These are only on higher end cars. The slope of the windshield will not have a noticable effect on radar range. You're good.

Even midgrade Dodges are shipping with that's labeled as "solar control" glass in the instructions. With that said I've had "athermic" rental vehicles and my detectors seemed to get normal ranges inside them, so I'm thinking not all athermic windshields are automatically radar-proof.

I've got an '04 Cavalier, V1 mounted high above RVM, no problems whatsoever.
