upgraded my dads RD..lol

my dad drives a work van and works at construction sites, also he speeds alot and says he needs his RD to drive around because he speeds so much. He was using a 15 year old whistler mounted on the dash because he lost the suction cups for it, and it would always be on and spend hours in the hot sun daily and it's poor preformance made a cobra ESD model look good.
Whistler 1460 dosen't detect laser at all

anyways, this thing would alert pretty much just as you pass the LEO so it was useless..
So I recently bought an 8500 nonx50 to replace my bel 795, so I installed the bel 795 into my dads van and today he comes home and is all
'' yeah that RD you put in my van, lemme tell you what, this thing surprised me today, I'm goin down the road and I reach for my cell phone to find out it wasnt my phone that was going off and as I'm gettin passed a curve I see this cop far down the road and I'm like :shock: holy $hit!! I didnt know they could pick up that far!!"
I start laughing my ass off because he would always tell me cheaper RD's do just as good haha.

More importantly dodgesrt4driver, I bet your dad will trust your advice about RDs from now on!

I just bought a new (used) car for my father who will be turning 80 this year. He has a nasty habit of doing 80 on the highways. Hmm...If Mike B will let me keep the Whistler Pro78 which he sent me for testing, then I am going to hardwire it into my dad's car. Another hmm...Maybe I should get my dad the new XTR-695 with its programmable color coded displays since my dad doesn't know $h!t about radar. I hopefully can set K band to orange, Ka band to red, and laser to white? Then tell my dad to slow down whenever these colors show up on the XTR's display?
