If you buy new they are basically the same platform, so performance will be very similiar. The prices are close too, Bels typically you can get cheaper. It comes down to features and price. My older platform 995 is killer on ka 34.7.

Performance is similar as they both use the M4-based hardware. Also using the M4 platform are the other Vectors, the RX-65, and the 9500. If I understand correctly, the newer M4s are a tad tweaked when compared to early M4s. Also, the 9500 does seem to do a bit better in performance than it's M4 brethren.

Both the X50 and the V995 are excellent choices. I have a Vector 955 and 995 and I'm very pleased with them both. Reliability is an issue and it seems that quite a few Bel/Escort RDs get a trip back to the factory at some point.

The X50 does have more features than the Vector, such as tracking multiple radar sources at once on the display. If money weren't a factor between the V995 and the X50, I'd go with the X50.

The X50 doesn't seem like a giant step up, more evolutionary. Same story with the RX-65. For something completely different, the 9500 with it's GPS system is appealing in a populated environment. The V1 is also a step in another direction, but would be my choice for say..the lonely roads of rural Nevada.

I have an older X50 and a 2year old RX65. I like the RX65 but cant hear it. would say my X50 is all round as good or better, cause it works better on K band. Just my 2cents. (hell i think my X50 and Rx65 work as good if not better than my V1)

LOL, I love my X50, but the Zombies are going to come out of the darkness for saying things like that.

I'd say get a x50; if you can, get a REV 5 from old stocks...
