Your professional thief will not bother breaking a law for a Cobra, unless he is stealing the car. Then he might throw it out to increase the car's value though. Your amature, run-of-the-mill I need money for drugs thief would, just for the shimmer of hope they can get something for it.

I really think most people don't even know what a good detector is, so if they see a Cobra, to them it is as good as a Bel or any other detector. People will steal anything, if later on they find they have no need for it they will just toss it.

You can check your local pawn shop and see how many Cobras they have. This might give you an idea if they get stolen a lot. I agree with focalcivic though, I think your average person has no clue what the difference between a Cobra and a good detector is.

I know you don't care, but think of this, is it worth a broken window? My worst nightmare is someone breaks my window to try to steal something and it rains that night etc.

Whatever you leave inside the car and someone can see it(a cell phone, bag etc..) it is dangerous to get your windows broken from thieves

Had a friend who got his window smashed for 11$ in change...which is worth more then the Cobra, but still you never know...
