How to test you Radar/Laser Detecor?

I bought a Beltronics 955 to replace a Radio Shack detector. Lough all you want at my old detecor I think it ended looking cool (rebel) thats why I kept it on my windsheild.

Anyways how do I test the Laser function of my device without a Laser Gun or knowning any cops? I tried the TV remote tip, but that didn't work.

Try every button on every friggin IR remote which you have in your house or a neighbor's house! Test from distances of 3 feet to 18 feet. Likely there will be at least one magic button!
