Ka band from a funeral procession?

Had a kind of odd experience driving home just a few minutes ago. Stopped at an intersection I was picking up some kinda distant but solid Ka band on my X50. Figured it was an off-axis LEO or one coming up behind me to stop at the light. Didn't see a cop but as soon as the light changed I ended up passing a funeral procession going the opposite direction as me. Signal got really strong once they were in view and then dropped as soon as the lead cars passed. Anyone else experience this? It was during the day so I figured I would've seen the LEO if there was one.

Was there perhaps an unmarked cruiser in the procession?

Usually in my area the funeral processions are escorted by police, maybe they had unmarked cars as to not make their presence distracting for the family

Wouldn't having the lights off and it being unmarked make it no longer function as an escort?

Sorry, when I read this I couldn't help but give a snicker.

I would have been really confused myself and (inappropriately) laughing as I passed this. It is mysterious indeed and I guess I would have to go with the assumption that they are an unmarked escort to blend in.
