    Default V1 vs. Passport 9500xi

Hey, I'm new here. My name is Cam and I'm from Illinois. I own a cobra radar (i know it is not a good radar hahaha). I'm going to be 17 soon. Anyway, I want to know which one is the best, V1 or passport 9500xi?

Personal prefrence but the 9500ix is better to me. It has gps features and can be updated anytime. Very very good performance about the same as the V1. Locks out falses. But...

Where do you drive, like city or rural or urban etc.
    Highway or city driving?
    Do you dislike false alerts?
Do you have red light cameras?

The v1 is a great detector but i think the update process is bogus and every year they usually have to get tuned.

Yeah your cobra is crap, you will be blown away by the 9500 or v1

I say they are basically equal.

With the V1, you get the arrows and the best sensitivity of any windshield mounted RD. With the best sensitivity comes quite a few false alerts.

With the 9500ix, you get very good sensitivity, just behind the V1, little to no false alerts, warnings of upcoming red light cameras, but no arrows.

If you're the kind of person that doesn't mind false alerts, get the V1. If you don't like false alerts, get the 9500ix.

I own both the 9500i(just sent in for upgrade to a 9500ix) and the V1. I slightly prefer the 9500i, mostly because the area I live in is littered with false alerts. But, both are great.

I also own a 9500ci, that beats both of them pretty badly, but it's $1600.

My bad! I have to keep up with you and your LIs somehow! You should drop the ci on your ride, then we could both rule the stealth world with the 9500ci, LI and V1 at the same time. Two RDs and two jammers running at all times! Sweetness!

It really depends on were you live and if you can handle false alerts. I don't have very many false alerts in my area, and I really don't mind hearing the ones I do. I use the V1 and like it a lot. The arrows are very nice. I wouldn't mind having the 9500 though. I do like a lot of the features that it offers, such as voice prompts. I've never used a 9500 but I hear that the V1 is better on laser detection aswell, even though if it does pick it up, you'r probably nailed. My V1 seems to be really good on laser as I hear it pretty much everytime I pass a cop that's using it. I also believe I had one laser save with the V1 aswell. Either one should work well. Also, I wouldn't worry about re-tunes and such. I think many people get re-tunes just to make sure everything is working well. ANY detector will eventually need a re tune at some point. It's a mechanical device.

X2 to the above posts, and yes DJ is a bit of a show off.

I will approach the question in a different way.
If you are the kind of person who likes to have as much information as possible and make decisions according to that information no mater how much that is, get the V1
If you are the kind of person who only wants the final results and doesn’t want to analyze everything the 9500ix is for you.

Its like the guy who builds his hole house and gets all the building permits himself, or the guy that hire’s a contractor to do everything for him.

I would go with the V1 anyday.....

it is one detector that i can honestly say..i won't leave home without!!

It detects everything and the best in lasers(which are being used more and more now). You will learn the falses and soon discover it's greatness!!

V1! smokes the 9500 series winshield mounts in laser and x band, a little better on k band and a coin toss on ka band. V1 has the arrows that are really nice, takes away alot of guesswork where the signal is coming from. I agree with everyone here the V1 has better performance, the 9500 series are much quieter around town. so ask for one at christmas and one for your b-day. use the v1 for highway and 9500 for city
