Hi, im new to the site, but have been using a radar detector for a while. I have had escort and bel products for the past, but am thinking of trying a V1. I commute to NJ, so i drive mostly highway...would it be worth the money???

Yes.
Cool Thanks
See my thread for something else you can't beat for the money w/ highway driving.

I just switched over from an Escort and it's true, the arrows are both addicting and very helpful. The only initial downside is that it is prone to more "falses" in City driving. However, this can easily be managed by proper programming (Ask Mike - Report #3). I eliminated the X band because it's not used in Florida. However, I think it is heavily used in NJ. I've also set the K band on auto mute for 30 seconds. If you do a search under the Valentine sub-forum, you'll see how a lot of hard-core users program their units (many even have it listed in their signatures). You will probably even find many folks in NJ as well.
Ive heard many good things about the V1 i just need to make the jump and try it out
Hi sarge and welcome to the site. I never came across that programming thread before, thanks for that as it was real interesting and informative. You know, the V1 was and still is a sentimental favorite of mine and I nearly bought one until I finally decided upon the 9500ix since I drive my car almost entirely in the city and will be storing it for the winter from about Nov to next April. I do however plan on buying one anyhow soon enough, most likely next spring as I'm a gadget guy and would love to play around with it and it surely would be a valuable asset to anyone's arsenal of countermeasures no doubt.
btw welcome 99max to what I feel is the best place I've found to hang and learn from the best
