Exclamation Police piss me off, need a detector, help

So I just got a speeding ticket and what makes it worse is I wasn't doing so intentionally. I drive between Phx Az and Albuquerque New Mexico, and points in between on a weekly basis. Staring at the road for hours can at times result in me zonin out briefly and speeding a bit. which was the case recently, less than a minute prior to me seeing the unit hiding behind the pillar of a bridge I was going the speed limit, and aparently had been leanin a little extra on the gas. I even pulled over in advance of him gettin close and turnin his lights on and that a-hole still writes me a ticket.

so now I want a detector to alert me when they're out on the hunt and remind me to be aware of my speed. I don't necessarily want one so I can beat the system so much as a precautionary measure for when those cops get bored and need some ticket money. I don't budget for the most hi tech unit but don't want one of those wal-mart units that basically go off right after you've been caught already. Don't know much about the specs such as bands and what applies to my area. I'd like to be educated on this type of equipment so I can make an effective purchase. Any advice and tips would be most appreciated. Thanks.

oye vey, you should of never pulled over before he went after you. thats just admiting fault and him knowing he more then likely going to get you to verbally admit it. Its a free ticket for him as in knows he has got you in court.

If your the target of an instant- on radar burst no radar detector is going to help you. Here is what I use and recommend Valentine One, Bel RX65, Bel STi Driver, Escort 8500 X50. I prefer to use Valentine One and Bel RX65.

Not necessarily. I've been on the road enough and experienced the fact that they're writin that ticket whether they think you know what you did or not. Being cooperative has gotten me out of more situations than feigning ignorance. Especially in the area I was in.

Not sure what motivated you to take shots with the insults. You shouldn't do that. People who do that over the net look like punks.

Thanks for the info homie, really appreciate it.

Thank you! That's the kind of information I'm looking for. Would you mind breaking down the "Instant-on" radar situation and why it can not be prepared for? I'll also be reading and reviewing the material provided by the other user.

The police radar is placed in hold mode and no signal is generated , when a target gets with in range the officer will release the signal and clocking the target. Ka radar is the worst it will clock your speed in as little as a half second. And there is POP mode radar for the MPH 36A which allows an office to clock your speed without giving away his cover, location etc. Valentine One is the Best at detecting POP radar and Laser. Don't buy a cheap radar like a cobra, you do get what you pay for. The Valentine One is $399 + shipping at Valentine One radar and laser detectors

I hope you take what I said very lightly...... I was just in a sugar rush demented humor type of deal a few seconds ago....

because we just answered something just like this and you should look for answers first. Thats why I posted the "Posting and you" thing. Do some reading up first. Don't you think every new person comes on here and ask the same Qs over and over? and we answer them...... but it gets old so I had to have a little fun with my reply.. Especially since there was a VERY good Post just about 5 post down on the first page which you should of looked @ first.
All of your answers could be answered without a single post most likely. I also often find that You learn more by reading various threads relating to the subject you're interested in as a single thread usually doesn't full educate you on the subject.

ok, thank you for that. I began reading on the unit you described and got a little confused because it said it detects instant on and you had mentioned there's no defense for that. I don't generally speed or if I do it's not much. So you're saying the Valentine unit will, at the very least, give me some type of warning in the event an instant on is ahead?
Also, is there a specific model number or version I should look for when shopping for a Valentine? (are used ones a bad idea?) Thanks again for your mature, informative response.

Yes most people use radar detectors not to speed, but to see if they are being monitored and makes them more alert of there. surroundings Best thing to remember is beware of the passing lane and if you are the lone vehicle on the road. All a radar detector is, a radio tuned to certain frequencies. If you want a radar detector that will the least is the Escort 9500i or 9500IX which have GPS which you can lock out a location that has false alarms but these units are $449 and $499. Have not had much experience and I have seen mix reviews. Buy what is the best for you. radarbusters.com sells radar detectors and stand by what they sell they are also owners of this forum.
