need international radar detector forUS AND europe

hello,

i am in the US for some time and have already been ticketed. Back in Germany it is even worse so dont ask. i drive a BMW and do not like unnecessary speedlimits.

So i talked to a guy who had the Cobra 6060 in his Subaru Impreza and went to target to get it. Fortunataly it was sold out, otherwise i had bought it and then found out that it does not support the european KA thing (what ever that is, just saw that as i looked for detectors)

SO:

1) i want to take the radar detector home to germany and i should work there as well
2) i was gonna spend those 50$ to make a good deal, but i would pay up to 100 or 130 or more if someone recomends a different one which is a hot deal and is even more reliable ( but ~50$ sounds way better to me)
3) it does not have to be the fanciest thing in the world (saw they are up to 500 bucks) because my breaks are pretty good. so if the thing alerts me one second later than another one that does not matter as much

what would you guys say should i get or look for???

Sorry to tell you this, but you're going to have to spend at least $150 on something decent. I would say the beltronics and whistler models are what you want to look at. Something like the vector series or the pro 78/690/695 series.

Welcome to the forum, cobra radar detectors are junk. When it comes to cost, you get what you pay for. I like beltronics, Escort, Valentine One. Other members of this forum that will give better recommendations for your area because of the difference radar frequencies that are used in Europe. Believe that Valentine One does not ship overseas but could be wrong?

And over twice that much to to get something better than decent. Until you decide that you're ready to spend money, there really are no recommendations that we can give you that you will like. Being a cheap arse doesn't pay in this business. You get what you pay for.

i took a look at the WHISTLER XTR-325 which had this supported this KU.

actually that would be my price range and there are some good deals on that one out there. can geht it for 89,- on the web.

what do you think about it? any experience

but doesnt seem to support KU.

You are going to be very disappionted for a true internation radar detector you have to spend the big bucks

Also you might be better off with just GPS camera detector when in europe as there is a large number of fixed speed cameras detectors even the best hardly detect

The beltronics XR70 can also detect Ku band. I don't know if you can find it in Europe but and authorized beltronics dealer from Australia sells it. The whistler 325 looks good too, just don't expect too much from it.

I personally feel that there really are no recomendations if your not willing to spend money. You have a bmw, so im sure you have money.

If you travel to other countries in europe then I would really reccomend an Beltronics STI Driver. IN other countries there illegal to have and you can get in big trouble if caught with one. The police have RDD's or Radar Detector Detectors that will detect if you have one. The STI is the only handheld detector that is immune to VG2 and Spectre RDD's.

It has great performance, and there is a euro version.

If you don't need the RDD immunity. I would go with a V1. It will give you great performance in all areas.
