The 9500I/ix have always had the same sensitivity and the differences we see are all variance, even in comparison to the fist ones out. The big change has been ramp up.
the change in ramp up isnt anything different that those of us with 9500i have had for months though right? and to answer your question, YES theres posters claiming the 9500ix thrashes the sensitivity of their 9500i

I'd be happy if it simply matched the performance of my 8500 X50 ... I bought it for the GPS and RLC's. Who claims it "thrashes" the 9500i? I don't recall reading such posts ...

If you are bitter that you bought a 9500i before the 9500ix came out (which from reading your many ix bashing posts, you are), just upgrade it already.

Not bitter AT ALL man. I don't use TrueLock (so I certainly wouldnt use "AutoLearn") and I have no use for the database. I was going to upgrade (for only $89) when I thought it was an improved detector in ways OTHER than the database and autolearn, but after researching I decided it wasnt worth it.

Search it out, NeonSector has claimed the detection smoked his 9500i's more than once and Im pretty sure others have already.

I hope for all those paying $500 for the 9500ix it is better than the 9500i, because the 9500i I used to own flat out sucked compared to my S7 X50, not even in the same league. Sensitivity like a Cobra....

Right. The first 6 months of ramp up was 1-1-1-10-10-10 than around October 07 they changed ramp up dramatically, much more linear but still not perfect (what you and I have now).
My first 2 9500I's had the old ramp up which i loved, my new unit bought the beginning of this year has the new linear ramp up i dislike, but as you know im strange.

supposedly there is another update, but i haven't confirmed.

thats definately a personal preference thing.
Some people want a linear ramp up similar to the jaws theme...so they can calculate the distance from the threat (like myself), and some people like an immediate OMG I just shat myself from the sudden full alert (like yourself) and it makes sure you slow down as fast as possible.
Theres times I jack on the brakes now with the linear rampup...I think if it were the old way, I'd have a few rearended accidents as a result.

I never have seen/heard a better ramp up than my old X50 had. If only I didnt have the lockup issues I kept having with it.

No, the "ix" is no different than the "I" as far as sensitivity (close to V1 detection). You got a bad one or confused the poor ramp up for bad sensitivity. My guess is yours was purchased early 07?
Any units purchased after November 07 were much more consistent with there detection range.

I took out my old 8500 and boy that thing was a good unit, ramp up was perfect. However my friend that's use to my 9500I asked me what was wrong with it because it was going off constantly. Needless to say my 9500 is back up.

I'm not saying that what your saying is incorrect but it could be as simple as the algathoriams that can improve the detection pick up cability. I think you'll love your v1 for sure kid.
