radar bands????

mostly here in my area where i drive in central ny the state troopers use the ka stalker II dual and the oneida county sherriffs use the decauter i believe which is k band. If anyone knows the band frequencies of these radars and the best detectors to use for them would be great. Been looking at the rx65 pro, 8500x50, now the whistler pro 78.

Stalker is at 34.7 ghz

K band is 24.150 ghz. Decatur also makes Ka guns at 35.5 ghz.


The Bel and the Escort you are looking at do well against the Stalker 34.7 and all K bands, and I would put them ahead of the Whister you were looking at (which is also a good detector in its price range.)

Asking which is best opens up a huge can of worms, as there are fans of all the products here on this forum. Best advice I can give is do some reading and research and decide what is best for you. You can also check out www.guysoflidar.com for some real unbiased tests of detectors and laser jammers.

thanks...i heard some talk on certain detectors were better with 34.7 and some were better at detecting 35.5 than others, so i was taking that in consideration when thinking about a detector since those are about 95% of the types of radar i come in contact with where i drive

I agree with Jerry, the Bel/Escort line up is a better choice. I'm in Binghamton, very little lidar down here. Do you see it more up there?
