    Money tends to draw attention.

Cool isn't often defined by poverty.

Drive what you want because you can & want to.

Passive choice today means less option tomorrow.

Money is not exclusive to drawing attention.

There's a bit of being different in there too.

Very true. Old crap cars, ricers, and so-called "muscle cars" draw more cop attention than expensive cars. It doesn't take real money to put a spoiler and a fart pipe on your POS.

soo....i installed a simple switch that interrupts the ground on my hardwire on the dash. a high mounted RD, my visor down, and that kill siwtch, and no one can see the RD from outside the car
Wouldn't that be solved just by turning off your car when you pull over?

Thumbs up Re: RD's in Legal States - The Truth Is

I think YMMV in these scenarios. Depends on the LEO, the day, the situation, etc.

Last year I had the opposite situation Got my first ticket in 35 years for doing 81 in a 75 zone on I-80 in Wyoming. All of my Colorado friends said it was unbelievable chicken-s**t. Did not have my RD mounted and on because I have driven I-80 there for 35 years and they mainly stop 18-wheelers or noticeable speeders, not those doing 5-<10 above the PSL. This time not having the RD hurt me because I came up fast (right lane) behind a rookie trooper who was pissed.Told him I thought I was doing 79 and he asked who said you could drive that fast? I was polite and noted that there were cars and trucks passing me. He let out an exasperated frustrated sigh and went back and gave me $75 ticket. Mailed the fine in because no points (out of state) and no record. However, next rest area I pulled over and put up my RX65 mounted low on windshield above wipers with Styrofoam block for support. BTW, if you don't pay or contest an out of state ticket, under a federal interstate compact, the issuing state can turn it over to your home state to prosecute, and that is worse.

Now I used my 9500ix on all but in-town trips. I don't do much over 80 on most interstates for gas mileage and fatigue reasons. However, in parts of rural Oregon, with silly 55 MPH PSLs, I often do 65-70 and try to find someone to run bear bait.

I think the pressure is on to generate more revenue. Governments can play budget games to reduce LE general fund appropriations for police and unofficially encourage more traffic ticket revenue to replace it. I'm not a speed demon, but if enforcement activities increase aggressively, I'd consider adding more countermeasures. Until then, I can afford the occasional out of state ticket w/o points and multiple discount guaranteed renewability insurance.

    JMHO.
