No problem. They turn opaque for a while, but eventually regain their original translucency.

I found quite a few V1 OE suction cups...large ones and small ones. I installed a couple of the small ones and can now get it to stick to the tape placed over the dot matrix. The suction isn't as good as the glass, but it does appear to be holding.

I tried scraping the black dots...no-go on my car.

Didn't really matter as the wife took a road trip that day and broke the windshield. I got a factory tinted one this time and put the cups below the dots.
I want to mount my V1 in the area behind the dots.

So you say it had no effect? How did you test it?

    Thanks

Just do some searches using the search function here:

Per the likes of jimbonzzz, "The Professor," as well as Mike B. and MEM-TEK (anyone here can vouch for the validity of their information) this should not have any noticeable effects on RADAR detection capabilities (regardless of the "capabilities" or "how good" a detector is - as the ceramic material should not attenuate RADAR).

JBserrell on NASIOC - the North American Subaru Impreza Owners Club Forums, actually called this one in to Valentine Research ( REF: [ame=http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showpost.php?p=25550799&postcount=55]NASIOC - View Single Post - DIY V1 radar detector mount[/ame] ). He reported:

Called Valentine Research and they said that the black ceramic dots wold most certainly NOT effect radar performance at all.
In that thread, however, one specific NASIOC member said that he saw an approx. 2-tenths of a mile decrease in detection range/distance, with his V1 mounted behind the dots, when tested versus a speed-drone.

I honestly don't know why he would've seen such a decrease - and he made several passes to confirm this.

My only thought was that perhaps the drone was going out of calibration or that an ancillary concern, such as other vehicles or passing objects triggering the speed-drone's output may be the issue (yet, that should have been "caught" by the fact that he repeated his runs so many times [and in terms of the reps, my question was how consistent was his data - if saw a large delta/error-bar, or was the performance *consistently* that much better? for if-inconsistent, I would worry that drift, or other external factors, was involved]).

And AFAIK, he's been the ONLY such reporting case......

I've done the same and it works fine, but only after many layers of tape (e.g. 10)
