How often are you returning your RD to the manufactors? I have a escort and i have not had to send it in yet. It is 2 years old and i have noticed it here lately that it hasn't got the sensitivity that it had. I am going to have to send it in.

What i mean by this question is; Has anyone had to send there v1 or sti or 9500 in 3 or 4 times to have it worked on. I was just wondering how good the product really is. I think when you spend up to 300-400 dollars it should be built to last.
I rarely hear of anyone sending their 9500s for repair. They seem to be extremely reliable. I have 2 of them and neither has ever been in for repair, but they have only been on the market for two years. Older V1s have to be sent in quite often for a tuneup, but the newer ones seem more rugged.

Never had to send my 9500's in for any problems. However i did send my 8500 in after 7 years of use, finally had a problem.
I had send back the GX 65 because every time i was honking the horn laser alert went off.
My 8500 is in need of repair, but hasn't yet gone.
I didn't think 9500's had really been around long enough to need it anyway. Aren't the oldest ones only a few years old?

How do radar detectors ever get less reliable?
I sent my STi in because a forum member advised me to, as he said I should be getting greater warning distances. The unit was not repaired but replaced with a new one, as it's reception had tested poor. I don't have a problem with this, but I guess I would be disappointed if they had repaired it and sent it back to me.
Whats the warranty on the Escort? 1 Year?
2 reasons:
1. They are electronic devices, and all electronic components are subject to changes in tolerances over time. The higher quality components you use the lower the risk and the lower the variance. The cheaper the component, the sooner it fails, and
2. They are subjected to constant vibration while in use which can lead to premature failure of physical connections as well as expedite the shift out of tolerance.
