My girlfriend hates my V1, hated my SRX, but loves my(now her) 9500ix. The 9500ix is designed for people that don't like all the noise a RD makes, but still want radar protection. Basically, it's great for wives.

That's why we generally hate the question, "which RD is the best". There is no best RD for everyone. There is only a best for one function. I was a looooonnnnng time V1 user and I defended it tooth and nail. After being forced to get an STi because of Spectre IV use in VA, I have to admit I love it and actually prefer it for everyday driving over my V1. My particular STi is very hot on k and ka. It's actually slightly better than my V1 on 35.5 and equal on k with exception to off axis k which no detector beats the V1. It took a while for me to get used to no arrows. It's too bad Belscort didn't put the M3 horn in the 9500 and GX65.

I have the same issue. My wife used to have the X50 then the RX65 then the V1, and now the STI R. On her other vehicle she has the XTR695. I am THINKING about getting another V1 or maybe the 9500IX. I think she would REALLY like the 9500IX do to the GPS that would allow her to know where speed cameras are at and autolockout. I would LOVE to buy her the 9500CI BUT installation would be TOO MUCH of a hassle on her car. I am torn on what to do. I am LEANING towards buying her the XTR 690SE.
