Default 09 Lincoln MKZ with Radar based cruise control

I have been hearing about the adaptive cruise control on the radio claiming the new MKS is Radar based cruise control? Is this lidar? Anyone have info on this model. Ford is loading there cars with it.
Also come with the Blind spot radar control feature.

I doubt that it could be any type of police radar because it could interfere but I bet it could be x or k band. God I hope not, this is not needed. Someone should sue ford if they do this. I mean think about it, they could ruin major companies that build radar detectors (VR, Belscort, Whistler and even Cobra) if these things pump out radar all of the time.

    To the OP, nope.

Lidar is laser (infrared) as in what the Infiniti’s use in their systems. This should set off RD’s with laser sensors and laser jammers.

The Lincoln MKS and MB’s, etc., have radar (microwave) based adaptive cruise / crash avoidance systems and should set off RD’s since they are allocated to, unfortunately, police radar bands, X and K, not sure about Ka. More radar pollution

You will see more of these options as time goes on, initially on higher priced vehicles and then to more standard vehicles. This has been in the mill for a number of years. Just another profit center for the automotive manufacturers and their investors.

2010 Toyota Prius has a similar radar based cruise control. From my quick search of the web, it appears they use a non police radar band, but who knows?

All this new crap on cars, for what? So people can pay less attention to their driving and won't have to worry about braking because their car will DO IT FOR THEM???

*Hmm, I'm approaching this car awfully quick! But I'll just wait for my car to apply the brakes for me and if I'm approaching too fast it will beep and let me know I need to manually take control.*

Have a buddy with a radar detector drive you to the Toyota dealership and follow you in his car while you take a new Prius for a test drive.

So far, in my experience, the only radar based cruise control I've seen that sets my V1 off is in some high-end Mercedes models, which for some stupid reason uses constant K band.

Many of them use high-frequency radar (something in the 70+ GHz range) which won't set off an RD. Some that operate in K band use a modulated signal that RDs filter out. For example, the side assist feature in the Audi Q7. I've seen lots of these on the road and none have ever set off my RDs. So either my RDs filter them out, or not many Q7s are equipped with the feature.
