Higher is known to be better. I run mine in the middle of my windshield, since it is my belief that one foot higher on my windshield does not make much difference.

currently my S1 is on Power
my S2 is on Quiet, i dont know if it should be on city, power or B/L
my Ka is set to max but dont know if i should change it to MaxID, Ka-RSID, or Ka-Norm
My LSR is set to Norm, but dont know if i should have it set to LSR off, or Laser LSID
My SR setting is off
And no idea if i shoudl have my B SVR On/Off
Also whats the biggest difference between filter, filter 1 or filter 2?

I would only change the following.
set your ka to maxid
B SRV is Vehicle Battery Saver Mode
The Vehicle Battery Saver Mode automatically shuts off
the detector after 3 hours. The timer is reset if the
detector is turned off, unplugged or any button is pressed
before the timer has expired. The detector will alert you
with an audible and visual warning before it shuts off.
During this warning, you can momentarily reset the timer
by pressing any button. If the unit has automatically turned
off, press any button to turn the unit back on
I leave B SRV off
Laser norm is fine
filter filter 1 and 2 are to filter falses from other radar detectors. start with it set to filter, and go to filter 1 if you are getting a lot of la falses from other traffic with radar detectors. Filter 2 is only used if filter and filter 1 do not stop the ka falsing.
It is normal to get k band alerts from automatic doors on stores and speed signs that show your speed.
Just so you know, my brand new 690SE with X band turned off displays X band door openers as K band. With X band turned on, it will display X band door openers as X band correctly. This has happened over and over again so it isn't some kind of fluke.
This is the main reason that I run my new refurb Escort 8500 instead of my Whistler XTR-690SE. What is the point of turning off a band if it is still going to alert to it and display it as another band?
Nooooooooooooooo! Mount it low.
Mount Detector Properly - RadarBusters.com
Radar busters says that for liability reasons. My RD is about 6ft off the ground behind a tint strip and still alerts to laser from less than1000ft.
S1 and S2 are nothing to worry about unless you get an Intellicord. An Intellicord isn't necessary, but I find it very convenient. I agree with Freebird, turn the battery saver off. One time when I was delivery driving, I went back into the store, came back out with the delivery, took off, and a few blocks later I realized that my 695 was off due to the battery saver. I've also been driving and had it beep at me telling me it was about to turn off which was annoying and I had to unplug and replug back into the cig lighter.
