Default Time to chose a new RD.

O.K. so I'm finally going to retire my "old style" V940 that I have been using in the work van. I'm still undecided on what I want. Reason is I want good sensitivity but also stealth. I am only 40 miles from the VA border and make trips there on occasion. Stealth however is NOT the deciding factor but would be real nice. Since Escort disconitued the STI, I am looking at the Redline but am undewhelmed with the I/O & Quicktrigger results. I am also totally uninterested in any GPS detectors as I want my RD to detect radar. And last but certainly not least I am considering the V1. I like the sensitivity and directional bogey finder but I think they are a decade or two behind the digital age as far as the display goes. And no stealth either.
So the dilemma here is this. Price is of no concern to me but I am still not happy with what is on the market. All of the top of the line RD's have their strengths and weaknesses. Price evidently doesnt make the best product to fill my wants/needs. Perhaps I should just buy another vector series and be unhappy with the newer antenna design.
    Any thoughts on this?

I feel your pain. I think VR is best positioned to give us the "ultimate" detector, but Mike seems to be so stuck on his "no planned obsolescence" stance that it prevents him from implementing key features like stealth. And on the other hand, Escort can't use arrows yet, and won't even admit that I/O is a problem, so they too sit stagnate.

Brother Djrams80 is right on the money when he proclaims that the "ultimate" detector is actually two detectors run together. That's a pricey proposition though.

Here is something to consider. You buy a V1 w/ concealed display (fulfills part of your stealth requirement) and a cheap a$$ cobra from Walmart. In VA, if you get pulled over by a LEO using a Spectre, you give him the Cobra instead of the V1

That may end up being the plan. But instead of buying a Cobra I could just use the old V940 as the sacrificial unit.

The van im going to use the RD in has a steel bulkhead behind the drivers seat. I wonder how bad thats going to affect the rear readings.
I didnt have high expectations with the old unit. it still should be better with a V1 tho.

Agree here all the way around. Altough cost isnt a major concern I dont want to go overboard either. Two detectors would be a little overkill and it is just a (rumpo) work van.
I was ready to get an STI but Escort pulled a Pelosi and decided for me what was best. Sucks to be them. Ill probably end up with a V1 stuck on my windsheild soon.

They only temporarily confiscate your RD. I hear though they have a nasty habit of "accidentally" dropping it when they are about to give it back to you.

I don't know about VA, but have heard that in MO they'll let commercial drivers run over it if they don't want to be cited.
