I have a V1 and got a ticket today ask the CHP what he was using for his radar he said Lidar so how do you detect Lidar and can a V1 be updated to detect it.

See other thread but I'll answer here. V1 will detect lidar most of the time, but not all. IT WILL NOT DETECTED IT BEFORE THEY SHOOT YOU OR UNTILL ITS TOO LATE. What version is yours?

What v1user said, no radar detector, V1 included, can save you from police laser. The only defense against polce laser is a laser jammer.

The V1 comes with the lidar detector built in, but as stated, doesn't do any good if he's aiming at you. It goes off, you've been caught, if it was you he was aiming at. If you are lucky, the LEO is aiming at the person in front of you and you caught the edge of the beam alerting you.

Not even the V1 with its excellent laser detection will save you from laser mate. Without a jammer, you will be nailed every time.
