No. I've put RDs behind the dots on my Mustang and noticed no negative effect on radar detection.

I have always wondered about this also, I have a hard time making the suction cups stick to the ceramic dots. It always has kind of scared me that I was going to get reduced range, so I would mount my RD right under the RVM of my Mustang.

Mine is to the left of the rvm. (03 Cobra)
Never could get it to stick to the stupid dots.

Sort of. I've used Carmex on the suction cups in the past to get RDs to stick to the dots. It works quite well, but I got tired of dealing with it. Now I just set my RDs up just below the dots, so I don't have to worry about them falling off.

what about layering a few pieces of cellophane clear packing tape to create a nice smooth surface, that should work.

It seems like the windshield curves so much on my Mustang (2004) that when I try to mount my RD's to the right or left of the RVM they are not really pointing straight down the road.

YES! I have an 03 F-150 and I could NEVER get my 9500IX level. I now run a V1, and it's a little better because it has a better mount, but still a PITA to get level! IDK what it is with the Ford windshields. They have a weird curve to them!
