Performance of the original Passport (Cincinatti)

Why did the original passport detector perform so well against X and K? There is no clear lens for the antenna like new detectors in the front and it is extremely thin and small. I would love to see a comparison between this and a V-1, X50 or any newer detector on X and K.

The only reason for the lens on the newer units is because they also detect laser. Radar passes right through the plastic on the older units so it makes no difference.

The main reason the older units did so well is because they only had 250 MHz to cover with X and K band. After superwide Ka was introduced, they had to cover 2.85 GHz, over ten times more bandwidth.

One of these times, we plan to test some of the older detectors against todays detectors in a Guys of LIDAR test, just for comparison purposes.

Yea I have two of those. Worked fine as my first detector, (You can see one of them in Won Hunglo's first detector thread), at picking up Cayuga County Sheriff (K-band).
