Will a laser detector go off if the LEO was hitting a car 100' infront of me?
the spill factor?
or only direct hits?
I will be using a V1.

Wow, am I glad I went with a V1.
After reading spoopies link, Radar Detector Tests and Reviews by Guys of LIDAR - Radar Detector Test 2009
It seems I made a wise choice, thanks for all the help guys.
It's pretty common with the V1. Not so much with others. What usually happens is laser goes over, past, or through the targeted car, and hits you. There's also the so-called "scatter" theory, where stray remnants of a laser shot will ricochet off of the target and hit you. This is not actually proven yet. But either way, yes, you can get alerts when you are not the target. Do NOT expect that to save you though. It's extremely rare.
If you're expecting scatter or pass-through to be of any benefit in avoiding a ticket.... you're expecting wrong because its extremely rare. Only jammers will help.
thanks guys.
I live in colorado, so jammers out out of the question.
I have been tagged with laser at about 200 feet a couple of times on an RX65 and Whistler Pro78 and not a pep. I know the laser sensor is working on both units, because I have been alerted at greater distances.
On time on the M4 Rx65 I got a laser alert out in the middle of no where. It certainly got my attention. About 3/4 of a mile down the road 3 LEOs set up a speed trap behind some trees.
