    Default Cincinnati Microwave Escort

I was talking to my Dad about radar detectors tonight and he pulled this guy out.

I thought it was awesome so we jumped in his car and took it for a test drive. He mounted it on the passenger side (I was driving) and we rolled out getting a few chirps here and there. So we circled around to find the source and couldn't find it until we sat at a red light. We had a few chirps then I spotted a cop driving up behind us. I could tell he was looking at the RD so I told my Dad he is probably going to blast us and turn on his radar. As soon as I said that the escort starting blaring and we started cracking up.

As I drove home I took a little detour to a Chinese place that my friends RMR 450 whatever always goes off (lol I know) and it started going off about 200 yards away from where I think the source is. It alerted before the spot my friends RMR goes off.

Just goes to show escort was better 32 years ago than RMR is now

Wow, trip down memory lane. Anybody remember the V. Polak windshield mount we all bought because Escort didn't even make a windshield mount for the Escort?

Also, A bit of history, the one in the photo is an early model, the later ones had a S.T.O.P. feature added to it, and actually had the acronym on the front of the display in red letters. Stood for Statistical Operations Processor, if I remember correctly.

Those were badass until they came out with the Passport.

My dad had one of those as well. I asked him about it one day, and he said he threw it away.. said it didn't work anymore.. It would've been pretty cool to hold onto.

Great radar detector...too bad it doesn't detect Ka band.

Lot of cool old radar detectors (Drag down to Vintage Radar Detectors on the bottom left):

I have one just exactly like it. The number of saves it provided over the years, it is probably worth it's weight in gold. It is still providing a valuable service, a paper weight on my desk. I think it used as a trade in to Belscort on a new RD.

Cool stuff. You should send it to the Guys of LIDAR and have them do a comparison between it and today's top RDs such as the V1 and Redline to see how it fares on K-band.

A garden rock is a better radar detector than an RMR.

Those were excellent detectors. Does anyone remember the owner's manual including a flexible plastic record that simulated radar encounters?

If anyone knows where I can get one or a wav file of the record, please PM me.

I lived in Maryland when I had mine and every time I went through VA, I had to unscrew the bulb cover and take out the bulb. Those were the days.

I have one, it was called the "Escort Radar Disc". There should be a bunch of them still around, since they came with each detector for a while and were even bound into an issue of Car & Driver as an insert (not sure which issue).

Yelp, even I have one hid away. That Escort was the first super hert. I think with the Radio Shack Rejection circuit later on. They used them for the controls for X&K jammers kits, remember those!
