    Default Rd placement performance ?

Living in banarea I have to make a choice :
    performance versus stealth.

Does anyone have experience with placing the rd either
at the height of the rear view mirror versus below the windshield
at the height of the knees ?

In terms of detection : can we talk in terms of seconds or milliseconds ?

The rd in use will be the redline.

    Thanks .

High for better radar coverage. Lower for laser.
-I have found a lot better performance by having it above the rearview mirror.

Below the windshield at the height of the knees? Do you mean to hide the RD down inside of the auto out of site without a view thru glass? Do you not need a better hiding spot?

Come here to live in a tough banarea ...you will understand the obligation
    to visually stealth the equipment.

I will check the space inside the roof liner ....cant be higher

I did , placed the sti in the roof , the red at knee level ...to see
the difference in detection ... I will update the results as soon
I have a meeting with the traps.

There are tricks to hide the RD. I have heard different ideals. Place a ball cap with the net-type-mesh-summer material over the RD on the dash. The mesh back-half of the cap faced forward so the RD has a fairly clear view forward. A tissue box with a modified hole with a dark plastic over the hole faced forward. This site may have more great ideals... To add: take an old electronic radio or something and put the RD inside of it, jury rig it!

True it was ...years ago ...now our leos know those tricks ...
They could appear at your window for nothing ...just checking ...
at this point it is too late to react .

Trust me I tried many things ...like placing one in an old
electric 12volts air pump emptied from its inside

Thanks to Beltronic we now have rddproofed

Mounting mine high vs low about 2 inches above the wipers I noticed very little difference. Perhaps its because I drive a truck? Also, I'm still not convinced that the little black dots and tint strip have NO effect on detection range. Maybe someone with more knowledge than me can show me otherwise, though.
