Between X50 / RX65. Which one would you buy?
Please, UNBIASED OPINIONS NEEDED!
I asked this in BEL forum, and everyone said to get RX65.
I know both are pretty DAMN close. but if there is one that performs slightly better than the other one, I want to get the better one.
Many mixed reviews of both, so I am very confused.
Which one would you get?

I love helping people make a choice, as I know it is a daughting task especially rx65 and X50, seriously the tiny differences are so small and each has their own advantage.
Here are some points to consider
1. rx65 seems to have the better Ka range so if your main threat on the highway is Ka, you can make your choice that way.
2. X50 seems to have the better laser detection, but remember, there will be one day that it will alert but it wont be early off axis detection, the cop will have you busted, although laser alert is still valid feature know your playing with fire.
3. X50 has the optional blue display and a fancy (for entertainment) scanning side to side display, check the manual for features (you can download it to review and possibly make your decision.
Dont let someone pick you detector based on their preferences, I realize its a hard choice but thinking that one detector will always performe better than the other in all situations just is NOT so. Make your descision, even based on aesthetics look of the detector. Remember they are both great detectors, but they are not fool proof, you still have to use your head, I guarantee you that no matter which one you buy, you will possible be in a situation and think that the RD did not do a good job, don't be this critical, this is not a cop detector, it is a radar detector, door openers that use the same K 24.150 as cops do, and talk about instant on, that is the reason why ahving a rabbit in front is imperative. They are both great detectors, you will be envyed no matter which you have, make your decision and don't regret about.

Each detector has its ups and downs.... As stated dont let anyone pick your detector for you...
The x50 seems to have slightly better K range (in my experiences), and better laser (and the blue display is awsome), the RX65 seems to have a little better Ka range (and seemed a little less false prone)... BUT....
The thing here is YOU CANT GO WRONG EITHER WAY...
I love how people say it like one is "better" then the other ...and then [people start bashing each detector during a mass drone display] so if they get the wrong one they will be subjected to terrible detection and it will ruin their life and they will never be able to live it down...
Either detector will be a 300ish dollars well spent.
(Instead of racking your brain and asking other people.... flip a coin its easier)

I loveeee my x50, but I won't knock the rx65. But its a toss up. You want pamela anderson or carmon electra. You just can't go wrong :wink:
well thats good to hear. I guess it comes down to my personal flavor now.
As far as RX65, I noticed it is "straight-faced". Unlike X50, screen isn't slightly tilted towards the driver. Would this cause a visibility problem at all? because I want to see what the radar detector is telling me, and I don't want to mount the detector facing not straight.
OH, and one more. Is RX65 "upgradable"? I heard with X50, you can upgrade the module like Valentine 1, so the radar can be upgraded with any upcoming new technology that the radar might not recognize.
I mounted the RX65 (when I used my friends) to the left of the RVM (level with it)...or directly under it and never had a problem with the angle on the visual display could see it fine...With that being said I prefer the angled display on the x50 much moreso, but it shouldnt be your main concern really...not to mention when you get to learn the Audio Tones...(which are distinct on both detectors) you dont even need the visual.
The RX65 has Rev upgrades like the x50.

X50 by a long shoot. And by the way its a fact of life that the RX65 has had many issues on laser in fact I have even heard that the Rx65 does not even sound off at all when the laser gun is pointed right at it and I can't speak for all the rest of the members but in my opinion this kind of laser range is bad for a highend detector.
The Rx65's K and Ka range is not always the best atleast from what some have said.
I would save some money and buy a Sti Driver
rx65 seems to have better range, but using an x50 and being the pizza man and driving hundred miles a day + I still have never had a radar ticket. It preforms amazing on K band instant on, and X band instant on is good as well.
Few differences of the x50 vs rx5
x50 - full alerts, rx65 does not
x50 - can report 4x 2k 2ka at the same time (VERY useful), rx65 can only report 1K 1KA and 1X
x50 - Better laser detection, company with veil and you'll have a chance against laser
rx65 - better radar range on KA band by about 300 feet.
rx65 - voice alerts, x50 does not
rx65 - reports radar while in its programing mode, x50 does not.
