I don't want to bash on RMR to much, so I will just suggest that you look in another direction for counter measures then RMR

Rocky mountain radar is a complete fraud. All their detectors are worthless for detection, they can't jam anything and they never honor that statement to the customer which is why they have so many complaints on the BBB.

They work great! Make sure whatever you do, if you find them to purchase to buy as many as possible because they sell out so quickly!

I saw some videos of the rmr-c475 or whatever there newest one is, it looked fairly competent as a detector. Looked like it had a very good K band range and K band is used quite a bit around here. Sure it won't jam but if I happened across it at a fair enough price I'd probably give it a try.

The fairest price I'd pay for such a P.O.S. is $0

I bought an RMR-C302 for next to nothing and drove around with it for a day. On the positive it doesn't false very much except Ka falses from Cobra detectors, gave adequate K band warnings. I'd guess the performance is in line with a cheap detector in the $40 range.

The newer RMR-C475 seemed to do a fairly adequate job in detection from the videos posted. I think if you ran across one for about $100-125 that it seemed to perform better than what else you'd find for that price in terms of new detectors. This is throwing all you know about RMR out and just going solely on how the unit performs in terms of radar detection. I'm not going on merits of the company or anything, just the unit itself.

All that said if you watch you can get a used V1 in that price range anyway, so I guess it is all a moot point. I guess my main point is if you ran across a newer model cheap enough it probably is better than an entry level model or nothing at all.
