Yeah, it seems that the rumor of the 8500 having better Ka range than the X50 is not true :shock:Originally Posted by crazyVOLVOrob

I'd like to commend GOL. Your testing method IMO was much much better than the one used by SML. I'd take your results over SML results any day.
WHAT??? Who else was transmitting RADAR at that time? Which detector was being tested, if any?Originally Posted by outrun
on that note, i got an AMAZING detection on ka yesterday. i was on my way home from church and got a weak (but constant) ka alert, but it took me to get over three medium sized hills before i saw the local cop coming the other way! definately no line of sight at all!Originally Posted by crazyVOLVOrob
looks like a great test once again GOL. i was shocked by ku on the rx-65, but then again, ku doesnt really exist so i'm not worried. i'm looking foreward to the april lidar test. i cant wait to see how antilaser and the new jammers do. thanks again!
Yeah, my 8500 didn't do so good. Maybe it's out of tune, but most likely it's out of date. My X50 went into self cal mode a few weeks ago and ever since then it has been detecting really good.Originally Posted by crazyVOLVOrob

Yeah, well that depends... looking at the previous (2005) GOL testing, it would seem that it did have better Ka. That is the problem, everything varies day-to-day, situation to situation etc etc.Originally Posted by ES13Raven

I think that is a VERY good little blurb of information Obsidian... even though not 100% scientific and there are flaws in the 'logic' persay (as you admite), I have to say it is a very good way of interpreting the data in very simplistic terms. I have to say thanks for that post!Originally Posted by Obsidian
Agreed, I was actually thinking of doing the average also.
Now the question that remains in my mind is this.... Were these tests done one run only, or were multiple runs done per detector per gun?
