^ No doubt, it's one of the best RDs you can get and I like mine a lot. Sadly, I'm spooked running it segmented because of this little episode:

    http://www.radardetector.net/forums/...ltogether.html

I may fool with it some more though.

Just the other day the V1 did miss a severe off axis I/O that the stir picked up on The LEO was parked 90 deg. to the road that I was on and he shot when I was about 200 ft from him. I don't think he was targeting me (Couldn't be accurate could it?) rather he was shooting someone approaching the intersection.

    I didn't get the frequency But the V1 didn't make a peep...

If your running the V1 along with it why are you scared of segmenting?

I was having some V1 issues when that happened. Now that it's straightened out I may change it back.

The truth is that other than stealth it just doesn't offer much over a good old V1. I guess the segmenting and all may be cool for serious wonky type testing but I won't do it anymore in the real world.

    Freq. display... meh...
What the STi-R has over the V1:
    Stealth from RDD
Stealth from the eyes- remote install
Better off axis detection especially on 35.5
Better detection of Ka band QT
Less Ka falses with RDR-Off compared to a V1 with Ka-Guard Off due to turning off Ka Segment 1
Better detection in areas with hills and curves
    Spec Display
Voice alerts (eh who listens to the cave man anyway)
    automute etc

What the V1 has over the STi-R:
    Arrows
    Bogey Counter
Ability to move from one car to another
    Better rear detection

Some people may not need some of the STi-R's Pros, but living in VA where RDs are illegal and theres a ****on of 35.5 and curvey roads the STi-R was a no brainer.
Yes, all of the above plus one more. ------

If you have ever had your car broken into and the RD stolen because the crook sees it up on the windshield you will find it depressing. Believe it or not both the leos and crooks know where to look. And even more depressing when the insurance company won't pay for it.
    Stealth is good!

Riptide is correct, the STi-R has by far the best ability to detect QT over any other RD made with the correct settings. Much more consistent than even the V1.
But the small chance of picking up QT is definitely not the only reason to buy a RD.
