    Default Radar Detector build quality

I haven't had a radar detector in more than 20 years. I haven't lived in an area that had anywhere one could drive faster than about 35 mph and i haven't had any fast vehicles either. The radar detector that i did have was made by escort. I bought a fast street bike in 1982 and proceeded to get 3 speeding tickets in 26 days. This prompted me to get the Escort. I don't even remember the model but it was supposedly the best available at the time. I didn't get another speeding ticket after that.
The main point of this post is that i am glad to hear that Escort is still a leader in radar detectors and deservedly so. I had my clunky, by today's standards, unit velcro'd to the top of my instrument cluster. Needless to say this was not the perfect method of attaching it. I worked quite well for sometime however. Inevitably, as you might imagine the velcro failed and of course i was on the highway going about 90 mph. I saw the thing fly off and bounce down the road. I almost didn't stop as i figured what would be the point. I did pull over and walked back to retrieve it. being night time it wasn't too crowded a stretch of highway. I took it with me even though i figured it would be junk. I plugged it back in and it lit up but that might not mean much. I contacted Escort and told them what happened. They suggested that I return it to them to check out. The bottom line is that i got it back from Escort pretty quickly with a note that the knob that had broken off had been replaced but other than that it had still been working perfectly. I just thought anyone thinking of buying a radar detector might want to take this into account. Escort builds a damn fine product. Oh, and no charge for the inspection or the knob or the return shipping!

Escort and Beltroncis are essentially one and the same so either one is good. Valentine 1 is another option. Check the RD test data. I don't believe there's a one of poor quality in the bunch.

    Good customer service.

I'd get a V1 if you still have a bike

If that were my case I'd end up killing myself. Where do you live?
