Owner of a V1 and previous owner of an X-50, spec display was nice (ka), but I live for situational awareness. To be honest, V1's laser alert (sound) is the weakest I've ever heard, very slow, very off-beat, yet loud. The X-50's laser alert was loud, abrupt, and piercing enough to awaken the dead...that's when the X-50's laser alert wasn't going off more than 5 times every 2 minutes. There's many horror stories about the X-50 on the internet, I personally lived through it. Same with the V985 and the speaker going out two years into ownership. Belscort, the quality in general, after 2-3 years of ownership, deteriorates. It may be great at first, but doesn't last like a V1. Purchased the Redline, just to get a feel, and returned it. Probably the best quality RD that Belscort has ever made, just too many glitches.

As for V1's ka alert, I love the "double brap", total sweetness.

I felt that way about my X50 blue, UNTIL I got a V1. X50 is a good RD, but it will not match the V1. But I still have it for backup.

    I love my S7 X50.

    Lot's of 35.5 around here so I won't be trading it for a V1.

I swear I remember reading the V1 was awful against 35.5, especially off axis.

Either way I'm not spending twice as much for superficial gains. I've run a V1 of a friends and didn't see any reason to upgrade.

Even though the evidence shows the V1 is better than the X50, you say it is superficial gains? /facepalm

    Don't say I didn't warn you.

By superficial I mean if I'm already detecting at 2.5+ mile ranges, what good is another mile going to do for me?

Sorry I don't spend thousands of dollars to outfit my truck like a military helicopter.

I don't think anyone here ever said the X50 was better than the V1. But damn I swear I remember reading the V1 was awful against 35.5..

I've see a lot of video on here and on youtube and my older refurb escort 8500 x-50 performs just as good . Their may be some horror stories with a bad x-50 but that's like saying everyone with tattoos are criminals. I'm happy with it and that's all that matters! I just bought a new video camera ,i'm learning how to use it. i'll be posting video's soon to show everyone

The V1 dominates on 35.5 unless it's significantly off-axis, at which point it's weakness comes into play.

"Superficial gains" isn't accurate. As the chart shows, the difference is significant.

My 8500 (S7) pales in comparison to my V1 on all bands. My upgrade from the 8500 to the V1 was entirely worth it.
