I ran the 8500 X50 red and it's a good RD. I really like my V1 (favorite) and also my Redline comes in at a close 2nd. Allot will depend on your environment where you want to use the RD.
Good luck on your purchase.
Also Good on Ya on getting a LJ.
Also give some thought (if not already) about a CB since it's a hugely underrated CB.
Debate requires intelligent counterpoints, which the Redline lacks, so I'd call it more of an argument than a debate.
Which jammer you run really doesn't have any impact on your choice of detector, unless you are trying to say that you like to buy second best and save a few bucks. But if you are dead set on a remote install detector, then second best is the best you can do. The Escort 9500ci or STi-R+ both have significant quality control issues lately, and the STi is hard to find. Both are enormously overpriced. That leaves the QI-45, which -- again, if you insist on a remote install -- is the way to go. I don't believe it has been formally tested yet, but reports show it performing in the same range as the 8500, which is not too shabby.
If you want it to be concealed you can just get a visor pouch for the v1 and the CD and it will be like having a remote install, for a fraction of the price and better proformace

thanks for the tips.
i still havent decided yet, just finished my m27 install today. is the 8500 x50 still a good unit for radar? is it really worth the extra premium for a v1?
The STi-R has served me well, the only quality control I've suffered is when I fried it twice, this may be half on belscorts part for the 2amp fuse not being good enough or my part for shoddy wiring, in either case I haven't had any performance issues. The only STi-R PLUS issues I've heard of are complaints from foreigners based on the different threats they face, in the US the STi-R PLUS should serve well I would think, now if belscort would focus on marketing it here instead of in a place where the threat level is different and doesn't serve it's purpose *hint hint belscort*.
They are definitely fine units. My only comment was on the very recent reports of both arriving DOA. I wouldn't guess that to be an overall product flaw, so much as just a simple temporary QC issue. I could be wrong in that assessment, but I was attempting to give Escort the benefit of the doubt.
