thanks for the advice. I have only been running an RD for about 1 year and a jammer for 6 months. I've been hit by laser about 4 times on 91 and 84, and KA a few times on side roads. I thought I had everything figured out, but I will always go by the moto "expect anything!"

I still have X band turned off. Should I seriously consider turning it back on??

I mean as to X band, I've got mine turned on. Sure, I've gotten like probably 20 falses with it since I got my RD in last July, and only one actual confirmed LEO using it.

So with that 20-1 ratio, you might think it's pointless. But I know that NJ is still one of the last bastions of X band, and since I live there I keep it on. As I said, I never run into it, but I fully subscribe to that "expect anything" mantra so obviously I keep it on.

Escort admits TSR does filter K-band and softens response time to I/O. If you figure the source has to be received, analyzed, then decide to alert or no-alert, this takes time.

With the traffic flow sensor muting on the V1 your always alerted to the source at the volume of your choice. The arrows are always going to alert to all sources, even when new ones pop up.

My friend and member on the forum said he saw one hwy patrol officer running x-band two years ago, nothing stopping them from pulling the unit out. I turned on all bands recently. Just watch out for strong signals

Whats funny is that the times I've been on NJ highways, I really never "noticed" that many x band alerts, but I did get only one on my way to south jersey

This can go both ways. If you are taking a long road trip somewhere, then yes I'd turn it on. For city purposes, I'd leave it off. You and I are both on the east coast and the only place that still uses X-band is NJ. Sure, its rare but it is still in use. I, personally have x band off because I know the MSP use everything else but that. The only confirmed police department that still uses it near us is NJSP.

Solidjake - Good video. No much of a warning but you did pick it up. I pass that area all of the time, they often patrol there and sit between the exit and on ramp at that exit. I'll keep X band on.....

for my trip to cali I am going out of JFK airport (albany international can only get me there with 2 layovers). the route I am taking will take me through NJ for about 25 mi. I will be sure to turn it on for that trip. But I suppose that when I am on my usually commute, where I am certain there is no X, I will be comfortable to leave it off.

If you want to avoid NJ, just take the 87 all the way down. Don't take 287 in NJ

thanks, I guess google maps is suggesting the NJ route because it is 6mi shorter. Which way do you feel is best? I just want to get there the fastest :-)
