Doesn't surprise me and if they have in in their fine print idk if they could get away with it. I'm with progressive and I haven't had a problem yet. And as long as you get the detector out of the car by the time the adjuster comes they wouldn't even know. It's not like that is included in the police report anyway.

I'm pretty sure they have a clause in their policy that you can't have a RD in the vehicle.

I know that insurance companies won't pay a claim for a stolen radar detector. Years ago, the rumor was that Geico was the worst insurance company since they would drop you if they found out you had a radar detector.

But Geico is evil, and anti-RD. I'd drop them and switch to ANYTHING else. They buy radar and laser guns and give them to police departments so they can issue more tickets, resulting in more rate increases. They are the ultimate scam insurance company.
Jesus. That sucks! I'd totally forgotten about that.

Geico can kiss my ass. That is a fraud!

I'll admit they have the best commercials of all the insurance ads.

OP, great response to the insurance doofus. Very funny!

I have allstate. I might make an anonymous call to Allstate and ask this.

You should be ok. Only Geico is so blatantly anti-RD, because RDs hurt their scam revenue.

Most insurance companies won't cover you for a stolen RD though.

I use Allstate. Why? They will buy me a brand new Z06 if mine is totalled within 3 years of purchase, and I only pay 140 a month. I'm male, 25, single, and have the multi car discount, but live in Louisiana, the #1 most expensive state.in the nation to insure a car. State farm is also good, bit would not offer new replacement car at no cost, and they wanted a hundred more month. Whatever you do though, stay away from junk like progressive, etc. Their client hit my mustang GT while I was parked pumping gas and they refused to pay even though he and the officer on the scene agreed it was all on him.

If someone has the text of a Geico policy in front of them, can you scan the page that has the "we refuse to cover you if you have an RD" clause? I'd like to see it.

Sounds like good advice there, Mr. Nicely. You know something? If everyone takes your advice, your crooked insurance company will go out of business. What a moron. I wonder if he has insurance through his company, and if he's gotten any speeding tickets. Heck, he probably has a Cobra in his Bentley....
So true... I bet this guy goes mach 2.3 like the laws of physics don't apply to him.
