Default Best and least expensive new RD

The factory refurbished 8500's i know are top notch, but what Whistler or other manufacturers model would be a good choice for my area?

    As cost effective as possible.

Try a Whistler 693SE and tell us what you think. I personally love the refurbished 8500's and the limited edition Escort C65. I am not sure if you can find a C65 anymore but that was one hell of a unit for $200

One of the few positives of the M4 is that, theoretically, the cheapest little Vector 940 should perform similarly to the RX-65 or x50. (9500 has the condenser lens that improves performance). RB currently has the 955 for $157 with free shipping, which I would consider to be a screaming deal for a new detector with adequate performance. That's the minimum I'd recommend because you can kind of disable X-band by running it in CityNoX.

Thanks for the info guys, some good options ill look into. I really want to try a Whistler like the 693SE, but the referb 8500 is hard to pass up and the V955 is a good option as well.

I was just using my 8500 S7 today actually. Bloody good value there. If I had to make the decision between a Whistler and the refurb 8500, it'd be the 8500 first, since K-band is very common where I drive and my Whistler 695 struggles with that band. But it does very nicely on Ka band and it never let me down on that band.

Ya, i want to give a whistler a try but the 8500 is such a good deal and my GF has my old 8500 which i loved. My daughters boy friend needs a new RD and i think ill have to recommend a referb 8500, K band is used a lot around him.
