Unhappy Volkswagen's Temporary Auto Pilot kills Radar Detector ???

There's a technology news today saying that Volkswagen introduced a new "temporary auto pilot" feature in their future cars that uses both RADAR and LASER to "auto pilot" the vehicle. If this technology works, it will be widespreaded and common on other vehicles as well (just like cruise control). If that's the case, what will happen to the radar detector technology/industry?

The TAP system's Pilot Mode uses radar, laser, camera, and ultrasonic sensors to maintain a safe distance between vehicles, start and stop in traffic, and slow down before a bend

Would think the radar would have to be in a different frequency than police radar, although not so sure about that... the farm tractors with radar sets off K band on my detector, but since these vehicles will be on the highway where police use radar it would have to be different so it would not interfere, but wait anything that has a FCC licence has to accept interference, so I don't know... what do you guys think, if it interferes then it could make the speed inaccurate to the police radar

It will do to us the same to enforcement. If your car drives automatically on the highway, then we wont need detectors because then no one would break the law, and thus no need for speed enforcement.

We already get falses from lane change assist devices, it is just going to get worse. Hopefully we will find a way around it like we have for traffic sensors.

I would bet that the FCC tested that well before awarding type acceptance to the devices. But even if they didn't, TAP isn't likely to interfere with radar, just like radar doesn't interfere with radar.

Yeah you may be right on that, lets just hope there is a way for detectors to filter out such in the future that don't alter performance or we will be all hitting our breaks
