    Default New Radar Detector Toys

The Las Vegas SEMA show is 2 months out and this is when many of the radar detector manufactures announce new toys.

With Mike Valentine's patent on the V1 expired my $$$ is someone announcing a 2 antenna radar detector system.

What are some of your thoughts of the new products that will be coming our way in 2012?

In terms of hardware, maybe a belscort with arrows.

I'm hoping for a firmware update more than anything.

You would certainly already know. So this must be what Escort is going to announce in October.

I'd say your bet is fixed.

    Thanks for the heads up.

PS. Tell us Roy, is this new detector going to retain the classic slow response times and crappy Ka ramp up?

Honestly I don't know what Bel and Escort is coming out with in November but my $$$ is on Cobra coming out with a dual antenna They will basically slap something together so they can claim to be the 1st to market while Bel/Escort will spend a year refining the product in engineering before they announce.

Maybe we will have a whole new era on radar detectors...

Before Bel/Escort does ANYTHING with dual antenna RDs, they need to fix Rampup on the Redline and make RDR On/Off and Band Seg standard....

Still, it will be nice to have something like the Sti-R Plus with a front and back antenna with directional arrows.

Why would they need a year? They could be working on one right now, they just can't sell it due to the patent, but that doesn't mean they can't work on one.

VR shows something innovative along with a new patent. Sits on it for another couple decades. Rinse, repeat.

I believe that VR will not disappoint us. They were smart enough to be #1 for all these years, so we'll see how this plays out. The V1 is fine enough as it is, but we always want something better, better, better.. Many old school forum members still run older versions of the V1 and still remain ticket-less.
