Thanks for the review, btw you have a typo in the "Escort - Website" links: "http://go.radardetectpr.org/escortlive"
Also, do you have any word on the future introduction of a hardwire setup for Escort Live? If so, I'm most likely going to hold out until then.

According to the escort rep the hardwire version is coming but not available to pre order just yet. If no one buys this thing escort live will be escort dead.

Not to thread jack, but it seems with the direct Escort is going that maybe one day they will have an interface with in dash and portable navigation systems?
Cars like the Ford with it's Sync system should be easy to make an interface with. Also if they could hook up with XM/SIRUS with live traffic data it could really be a big big thing.
Seems like this will be exactly what I expected in my area: Useless.
It is like a glorified trapster, or on the interstate: like a less effective CB-Radio.
Regardless, they have some things to iron out, but they certainly put time into this... just wish they put it elsewhere. Hopefully it works for some people.
-Wouldn't that suck though, if you buy the whole set-up and there is zero guarantee that it will help at all around you. Everyone is a guinea-pig.
AirMoore,
If you got Escort Live, liked it, then recommended it to your friends, wouldn't you be better off than you are now? You would know some scouts reporting in your area. There are also features other than Live alerts that Escort Live provides you. Especially if you own a non-GPS Escort detector.
If you already own a compatible detector, tried Escort Live and didn't like it, and it is outside of the 30 day refund period, then you are out $80 ($60 if you have paid for a Defender subscription already). You could most probably recoup most of that money if you wanted.
I have a L.I. dual setup, combined with my 9500ix. I will give it a 30day trial. I live in southern california, so anyone else here, may or may not benefit ? Will see. Could be a good thing. I will report my un-scientific findings.
Sky..
Yes, I would indeed be better-off... or, well... technically not really, as every area in my area has been loaded to trapster which I get for free, so between knowing all the areas, and having a solid trapster database backing for free... it wouldn't help me, as well as the limited number of Belscort users - mostly Vector series?
So again, it all depends on me buying a product regardless of whether or not it actually works for me... as long as you see the money, you're happy.
In other words: I'm not shelling out $80 to use a product I know will work well, I'm paying $80 to buy a product I am not sure would even work in my area... $80 to test a product in my area, no thanks!
Give me a unit for free to test, and then we can talk, but by no means am I dumb enough to give a company $$ to test if their product actually works or not (regardless of if I can recoup most of my money).
FURTHERMORE a quick logical inference here tells me: it likely ISN'T going to work well in my area.
