Default Re: V1 vs Redline, which one should I get?

I have used the V1 for 18 years now, and will not change until another RD is proven to perform better for my area, Bama I/O Stalker. My 3.872 does pickup all laser shots so far because it is above the RVM with the laser hood reflections (no front tag) spread across the roof line, the V1 will alarm and has given early alarms to others getting shot also. The eyes have spotted all laser Leos parked sideways so far in FL and GA when in the cross hairs, not tagged yet. With the V1 set as a 2 priority volume setting RD, it is near perfect for I/O alarms with weak X/K at just a notice volume and Ka/laser at a knee jerk volume with the Ka guard off (POP on) mostly gives an instant alarm for I/O, you do not have to think. If traffic is around you, you can beat I/O when there is doubt in the Leos eyes, but you have to learn the limits of radar and how it works and use those failures of radar to your advantage, and know how to speed correctly. The arrows on the V1 are a must to have which gives me the information to exactly what is going on around me. The V1 is tops for me and I will not run anything else until something else is proven better for my needs. Not a V1 zombie but the V1 works where others will fail......

I own a V1 3.872. My range on it is not good on ka.... My main threats are c/o and i/o ka. I have had many see before detector goes off encounters. During these encounters there is still rampup which I take as indication it is not instant on. I have been hit with instant on before, it is like full volume all at once.

Many people here have V1 that perform much better than mine. That said, i sent mine back to valentine and they sent it back to me claiming it was fine. I have seen a redline perform, and it is unlike anything my V1 has ever done. that said, i have seen videos of V1s performing in ways my unit could never replicate.

In conclusion, get both then pick one, or keep both. You might get a dud V1, you might get a hot V1. You might decide you don't care bout arrows and that your terrain makes the off axis capabilities of the redline most important.

Both are great detectors. Both are going to have their fare amount of falses. In my area redline. 34.7 stalker only. Lots of freeway driving. If you do alot of freeway driving you will be happy with either or both. If you do alot of city driving you won't be happy with either( unless you buy the redline with the escort live). You would have to filter the detectors down so much that you might miss a real encounter. I ran a v1 for 13 yrs ,, now beltronics sti-r+.

I know running the Redline on "Auto" mode cut alot of false down also.I have both and love them I was thinking about selling one but it's hard to decide so I might just keep them both for now and see. I just send my V1 in for an upgrade so I will see how it.

if off axis is important to you redline (curvy roads)

if reactivity is important then v1 (instant on/quick trigger)

both will have plenty of distance on straight highways for you to slow down.

but the V1 is cheaper but it doesn't have as many features other then the arrows.

I have both and love them...I run both at the same time. I know most will say not to, but I like the SA the arrows provide and knowing how many potential threats are out there. What I have noticed running both is, The Redline will beat out the V1 on K band about 95 percent of the time and the V1 will beat out the Redline on KA band about 80 percent of the time. I have got so used to them being there it is hard not to run them together. A rabbit is a must and watch for brake lights ahead too. Most motorist will brake when they see a LEO, even if they are not speeding. BTW, off axis detection on the Redline is insane! Either way, they are both excellent detectors and I think you wouldn’t be disappoint in whatever you choose to drive with.

If your V1 is beating your RedLine around 80 percent of the time on Ka band, that tells me that your V1 is interfering quite a bit with your RedLine. I ran a 9500ci against several different V1s for 3.5 years and my 9500ci beat my V1s at least 80 percent of the time on Ka band. A Bel STi-R Plus would be a much better companion to your V1 than your RedLine is. The hood of your vehicle and the distance between your windshield and your front grille would eliminate the vast majority of the interference, letting your Belscort M3's ridiculous sensitivity shine through.

Redline is the best detector for the twisty roads without a doubt. I had a huge Redline 34.7 save today in the mountains ... CHP came up from behind. It sucked that I did not know where he was like I would have with the V1, but the warning was sick, even from behind. No line of site whatsoever and rock walls. I knew he was there, just didn't know where.
