    Default Esxort 9500ix Vs V1

I couldn't find a x vs x thread so i figured id post it here. If this is in the wrong thread, feel free to move it.

I plan on buying a RD. However, i can't decide on which one to get. It seems like no one can say that the V1 is better than the 9500ix or visa versa. I need to know which one you would prefer and why. Thanks in advance.

Also, is a laser jammer worth the money?

I own both. I run the ix in my work vehicle because it's quiet.

I run the V1 in my Z because it's more sensitive than my ix and more responsive than any of my other radar detectors.

The ix has decent sensitivity, not-so-decent responsiveness, and awesome filtering, and cam alerts.

The V1 has great sensitivity, arguably the best responsiveness, decent filtering, and zero cam alerts.

Lets say you're me for a second. I drive to school everyday (20 miles there, 20 back.) About 1/3 of it is city and about 2/3's of it is highway. I want something that picks up radar, and is quite sensitive. I don't drive anything fast, but that doesn't mean i want a bad radar detector.

If your city driving is not too big of a business area and mostly residential, V1 probably won't be too too bad for false and you will enjoy the best sensitivity/responsiveness. V1 is about 100$ cheaper than IX if you don't add stuff to it.

9500IX will be sold in limited edition this month, they look pretty good. Worth a look anyway

When you say "stuff added to it" what can i possibly add to it? I mean it's a radar detector i don't see any need to add anything to it. I just want the latest firmware i can get.

I would run the V1. But I'm a "gadget geek" that has a higher tolerance for false alarms than the general public.

You may get tired of the V1 alerting you to every K-band door opener along your trip.

The ix is more of a "catch-all" radar detector for the general public. It alerts to radar and cams, and virtually eliminates false alarms.

The V1 is more of a purpose-built tool for detecting (and pointing to) radar and laser. It does that job better than almost everything else on the market. The M3 platforms (Ci, redline, STi and Sti-r plus) have a sensitivity edge, but the V1's responsiveness more than compensates for the small sensitivity gap. (IMHO)

If you want to know where all radar signals are along your route and know as far away from those signals as possible, the V1 is for you.

Note: the V1 is very "programmable" so if you KNOW a certain band (such as X band) are not used in the area's you drive, you can turn that band off completely.

I also forgot to answer your question about laser jammers.

The good ones are worth the money, yes.

I haven't done any testing in a few years but, when I was doing testing, LI was the king and the most expensive.

Blinder was next and working on a bunch of new ideas.

Then Escort's ZR3/4 was at the bottom of the list of jammers that actually worked.

The LI will protect just about any car with near certainty, where the Blinder and ZR units would only protect smaller/darker cars. Good installs on easy-to-protect cars would get reasonable expectations of success against most LIDAR encounters from blinder and ZR units.

I own both and if I had to choose one, it would be the 9500ix. But I also live in LA, where false alerts are everywhere. I think this is more of a personality thing. Some don't mind false alerts, some can't stand them. One thing to consider, almost all passengers will find the false alerts annoying, especially the ladies. My girl hated my radar detectors, but likes the 9500ix and uses it all the time because it's mostly quiet.
