Default Best Of Both Worlds? V1 + 9500CI

I love the arrows of the V1, and the range/gps of the 9500ci. I already own a V1 and figured it would be cool to have a 9500ci hardwired in my car, plus have the arrows with my remote display to show the source. I would just mute the valentine one, and basically use it purely for the arrows. I know that radar detectors like to chatter back and forth. Would this work, or am I retarded?

2nd question. I went into Car Toys and they wanted a whopping $1,000 to install it. They said it takes at least 6 hours and they have to remove my bumpers. I was imagining paying somewhere around $300, not $1000. I think he was adding a "audi tax", or took me for some fool. Anyone else have it installed at a shop? How much did you pay? What kind of car was it?

3rd question. I live in Colorado and laser lammers are illegal. Do the newest/best jammers show "jam" on the officers laser gun? I want a jammer, but don't want to risk getting my car impounded. Any thoughts?

I would shop around because I found that they are a little high and you might can do it yourself. They are a lot of member here will be glad to help out. In some places the STI-R + is cheaper but better than the 9500CI.

The Laser Jammer they want know that you have one unless you JTG (Jam The Gun).

I wouldn't run a v1 with a 9500ci. They would interfere with one another. And if you chose to runnthe v1 with a remote , I would get a stir+. and third I wouldn't pay more than 300 to have it installed. I installed my stir+ myself and it took me about 4 hours and I removed my from bumper to do it.

honestly I wouldn't do it because you're talking about close to $2000 of equipment for just detection, and then you'll probably need laser protection too. By that time the financial justification for your countermeasure setup is no longer as appealing. Maybe with the STI-R+ is better, but both of these seem like an overkill setup.

Your V1 is great with Stalker for you state (turn the Ka Guard off and it is tops for fast warnings). LTI laser is shown for your state. The Laser Atlanta and Traffic Patrol are the two units shown by GOL to read jamming codes, others can ring in on this for I am not into jammers (not needed so far, my eyes have worked). If I were you, I would go for the best laser jammer and turn it off after reaching the PSL when hit with laser and not get another RD. It is your money!

Take off your bumpers to install a radar detection kit? let me get this right, your bumpers are a solid piece of metal, or fiber glass or some sort of solid material, possibly wood if you are a redneck, that a weak radar signal is just going to leap right through? Personally, I would do it yourself and mount it in the grill so it is more in the open. Better yet be different, the higher you mount that antenna the better it picks up, so get a magnetic strip and arrange it so you plug it in and mount it on top of the car

I am running an STi-r+ and a V1 simultaneously in my B8 S4 (nice car, OP). While it's true that most tests have proven the V1 does interfere with the M3 antenna in the Bel, I feel the addition of the arrows helps offset the slight loss in sensitivity for the STi. My real-world use has shown very little impact - there's a Ka speed sign permanently posted at the entrance to where I work. Alert range and strength doesn't seem to vary at all with the V1 on or off. My V1 is located in the rear of the car, underneath the rear headrest with a clear level view behind and a slightly obstructed (by the headrest) view forward. Again, I'm using the V1 exactly how the OP intends - primarily for directional SA, but also as an additional verification of the threat.

My STi-r+ is located underneath the front grille with a clear, unobstructed view in front. My most recent install post on AZ does not include the V1, but does show how I installed the LI and 9500ci. I've since replaced the 9500ci with an STi-r+ (the 9500ci went in the wife's car). Like I said, I have the V1 under the rear center headrest (the S5 doesn't have one). From there I mounted a remote audio adapter under the armrest and a concealed display under the STi display.

One quick sidenote to this - for a lot of us it's not about financial justification to balance out potential speeding tickets. Instead, we get into CMs as a hobby. Trust me, between the two cars, a 9500ci, STi-r+, LI Dual, V1, and 9500ix I've long surpassed financial justification!!
