So in your opinion, LEOs that use C/O (or C/W, whatever y'all call it here) outweigh the tryhards that use mainly I/O?

Oh god, I forgot to ask this in the OP. (So many acronyms on this forum! ) I've always used this rule of thumb when driving on the interstate. On all of I-26 and many parts of I-95 there are middle dividers. Most of which is that re-enforced wiring. I feel pretty safe doing 20 over during the day because I feel as if as long as I keep an eye out on my side of the interstate (looking for LEO's ahead and behind) that even if a passing LEO clocks me, he cannot do anything for he cannot cross over to pull me (on 26, there are NO cross over paths for LEOs) nor can he really call in a nearby unit because they are probably pretty far away. Is this a flawed way of thinking as well, and I've just been getting lucky the past few years?

Just be aware that police in these locations "may" sit on your side of the road on the shoulder behind a rise in the road or other obstruction with their back radar antenna clocking traffic coming up on them from the rear.

In this area police may not use radar at all because of the divider and if the shoulder is a narrow one.

Right, the worst scenario I've thought of is coming off of a hill or a very rare turn and see one sitting on the right shoulder. (The left shoulder is far too narrow, and I've never seen an LEO sit in the median***when there's a divider) Because I am doing 20 over, I would of course be in the far left lane so his radar would have to go through multiple lanes of cars to get my speed which I don't see happening. (Yes, I use 'rabbits' all the time)

I've only seen laser use once. Very rare around here it seems. NC State Troopers were doing people dirty when I crossed the border on 95 a few weeks ago. NCSP SUV was sitting on top of an overpass with a laser mount while SIX LEOs waited to be called in down the road. I was like...mother of God. :|

Exit ramp ons (overpass lidar), unmarked Leos, VASCAR in the air, eyes eyes and eyes! $389 for a Cobra? Wow! One member bought one because it could do many things, bells and whistles. I guess to play with it, a bad performer unit for sure. Don't speed over 9 with this Cobra, a ticket magnet for it has a short/medium detection range and cannot detect I/O very good to save you, nor lidar well.......

Actually got this one for $240 shipped. I thought it was a solid deal for a first RD.

After receiving the 3 speeding tickets that I did, I began to study heavily what to do if you want to speed and what will get you pulled and what to look for in general. I figured out the 9 over thing after my first ticket. Unmarked cars in the state of SC are very limited. There are no unmarked State Police cars. They only use marked Vics and Chargers. VASCAR is not used here. From what I've read, LIDAR will screw you regardless unless your RD went off on another car getting targeted. But once your car gets targeted by LIDAR and your RD goes off, the LEO already has your speed. On top of this, I personally have only seen LIDAR one time. I did pick up a C/O Ka band from over a mile out the first day I had it. County was sitting on the side of the road around a bend. So I can question the validity of your information concerning the "limited" range of this unit.

Yeah, I see what you're saying with fastest display. Maybe I have just been getting lucky by never seeing a sitting LEO on my side.

Laser will nad anybody 99% of the time, but one can get lucky! Limited range, remember no RD is good enough. The RD needs to be fast to be able to pick up the spikes or tail end of an I/O (plus alarm fast to brake when hit up close). Example, a certain RD claims to be the longest range RD, but the catch is, can it catch a spike of an I/O? The answer is mostly not very good because it filters the signal so much that it will fail detecting that signal, proven by many users and failed test by groups. That is why the STIr+ and V1 is so popular, plus the Bel RX65 old unit but has less range. One must be able to detect the I/O far out in order to have a total save. One is not 100% safe, but you lessen that chance by all means in getting caught...

I guess I need to go ahead and say this.

No, I did not buy a more expensive higher-end RD such as an Escort or V1. I got what I thought was a solid first-time RD. Something that even if it did not have military grade detecting software, like some people like to claim their V1 has, I would still be able to use it as a neat gadget. I have what I have, a Cobra. I hope to be welcomed here and learn side-by-side with other model owners. I hope this isn't going to be a normal thing were any question I have regarding RDs are just re-directed to the fact that I have a Cobra and therefore irrelevant to what I do. That's ridiculous.

Bama, you seem like a knowledgeable guy. So I'm not directing this at you in any type of harsh manner, just for anybody that's browsing that says, "Eh, he owns a Cobra. I should point out how bad Cobra's are." I get it, they're not $500+ RDs, but they essentially do the same thing.

Oh! Don't use you RD in VA or DC. A VG2 can pick the 9970G up at a distance around 1060 ft and a Spectre can see it at 1320 ft......

Right, so you're saying that the higher-end RDs can pick up trail ends of I/Os which in turn will let the driver know there is an LEO waiting ahead. How long do you think I/Os last? 4-5 seconds? Shorter? I'm just figuring out how close I have to be to pick up an I/O. Obviously, I was screwed the other night if I was speeding. And that is what I believed to be an I/O.

Really? According to EVERY site I come across, the 9970G is completely immune to VG-2. I hear Spectre IV is hard to beat by any model. Not that it matters since I do not plan on visiting VA or DC anytime soon.

I take what I said back, obviously my 9970G does indeed display the frequency. I just need to figure out how...because I've yet to see a frequency. What's the importance of frequency? Also it detected a train today? Haha
